From 12 Founders to a Global Family

Discover the remarkable journey of Isunambogu Social Club of Ibusa Worldwide — from a small gathering in Benin City to a worldwide community.

Humble Beginnings

Isunambogu Social Club of Ibusa Worldwide was founded on 24th August 1978 through the fertile interaction of twelve (12) founding members in Benin City under the name "IBUSA SOCIAL CLUB".

Sir L. O. Abuah (JP) and Pastor F. O. Dibashi served as pioneer President and Secretary respectively. The club was renamed ISUNAMBOGU SOCIAL CLUB OF IBUSA on 16th February 1981 to resonate with the traditional identity of Ibusa Community.

The official launching took place on 28th October 1982 with the presentation of a certificate of recognition by the defunct Bendel State Government at a colorful ceremony in Benin City.

Global

Growth & Expansion

After the splitting of Bendel State into Edo and Delta States in August 1991, the Club operated as a composite branch until Onowu A. N. Abuah successfully split Edo and Delta into two autonomous branches on 25th June 1995.

Also in 1995, the London branch was founded by eleven members — making Isunambogu Social Club of Ibusa Worldwide a trailblazer in the annals of clubbing in Ibusa. This international status is now being replicated in the United States.

Today, the Club comprises four branches: Delta, Edo, Lagos, and the United Kingdom — united under one National Umbrella with Engr. Dr. P. C. Okonji as President-General. Membership has grown from 12 in 1978 to 119 members.

Gentlemen's Club

Isunambogu Social Club of Ibusa Worldwide has firmly established an enviable reputation as a gentlemen's club, guided by constitution and convention. Wives of members are affectionately referred to as Associates.

Guided by the philosophical underpinning that meaningful development requires multi-faceted efforts of both government and community participation.

National Convention

All members meet at a yearly national convention to review activities and social development issues. Monthly meetings at Branch levels ensure continuous engagement.

1992: Donated 30 bundles of roofing sheets to Ibusa Girls' Secondary School

1999: Donated four Golden trophies to secondary schools

2002: Erected UMEJEI statue at Ogwashi-Uku end of Ibusa bypass

2006: Provided borehole at Umuidi abattoir

2014: Furniture donation to Ibusa Mixed Secondary School

2023: Medical equipment to Government Hospital Ibusa

Constructed model five-classroom blocks at Omu Girls' Primary School

Donated Mitsubishi bus to Nigeria Police Division

Communication gadgets & mast to Ibusa Community Peace-Keepers

Repair works at Umejei road and maintenance of internal roads

Toilet facilities in secondary schools

₦500,000 donation to Ibusa Community Peace-Keepers

National Patron

Engr. Chief E. U. Obidi

Engineer & Community Leader

Shortly after his installation in 2014, the National Patron hosted the Club and visited the Club house project site. His expertise as an engineer proved invaluable as he advised the technical committee to expand the project vertically with a gallery and horizontally to increase sitting capacity. He undertook the roofing of the edifice with steel roof members as soon as the Club met the required milestone.

The National Matron has consistently taken the Club to a higher matrix of social economic growth and development with her legendary benevolence. Through financial largesse, support for bereaved members, employment of jobless members, underwriting AGM bills, and her majestic presence at club outings — she has left an indelible mark on the Club's history.
